The magic of Wishpot

the-magic-of-wishpot

Christmas is just around the corner! How many of you have started making your Christmas wishlists? I’ve been using Wishpot to keep track of my wishes! It’s really easy to use, and you can make multiple wishlists (for instance, I have a kawaii wishlist and a Christmas wishlist). All you have to do is download a button for your browser (I have a Wishpot button on my Firefox browser right next to the URL bar) and whenever you’re looking at an item online and decide you’d like to stick it on your wishlist, just click the button and add the item to whichever wishlist you choose! It will make a note of the price and URL, and Wishpot even sends you updates if the price of the item drops. I’ve gotten some awesome deals on things I had my eye on for awhile that way =)

Wishpot is also super handy if you’re a swapper like me, because then your swap partners can take a look at your wishlist and see what you like. There’s even a widget on Swap-bot that lets you display your Wishpot on your profile!

Dachshund goodies :D

I won a giveaway at the Dachshund Lovers group over on Swap-bot! I’m so excited because I never win giveaways :D Renee is going to send me a package full of dachshund goodies for my little Caramel, including a collar made especially by her! I can’t wait to see it. She makes lots of dachshund-themed goodies that you can check out at her Etsy shop, Bop&Rocksy!

I love me some CSI:NY

i-love-me-some-csiny

I was never a big CSI fan until this year and now that I’ve started watching old reruns and new episodes of all three CSI series, I’ve decided that CSI:NY is my favorite out of the trio. The storylines are engaging and realistic, the drama is well-balanced and not over the top like on CSI:Miami (I have to giggle every time Horatio Caine speaks, he makes everything sound like the end of the world), and the characters are so much more down-to-earth and yet so fun to watch. Not to mention I love Gary Sinise, who is an awesome actor and plays the part just right. I realized just how much I loved CSI:NY when I was watching a Season 5 episode, Yahrzeit, which had a plot related to the Holocaust. They dealt with the subject matter so gracefully and beautifully, I almost wanted to cry at the end watching the scene where Mac listened to a testimonial about his father saving a concentration camp prisoner. That moment is when CSI:NY definitely won me over.

CSI:Miami, on the other hand, is all flash and glamour and little substance to me. Sure, some of the storylines are really interesting but they get lost in all the fast-paced action scenes. Even the way they film CSI: Miami makes it look fake, with everything so bright and yellowy all the time. CSI:Las Vegas, on the other hand, seems cold and impersonal, which can be partly attributed to the way they shoot the series, using dark and cold color tones in the lab, and partly to the characters themselves. I just never connected with the characters and storylines on CSI:Miami and CSI:Las Vegas the way I did with CSI:NY.

Anonymity on the Internet

Anonymity on the Internet seems to bring out the worst of people. I was randomly browsing through the comments on articles on the New York Times website and MyLifeisAverage and I was taken aback by the sheer obnoxiousness and hatefulness people were spewing on the sites. I wonder how many of these people would dare to say the same things in real-life that they’re able to say while hiding behind an anonymous screen name online. It makes my faith in humanity diminish that much less :/

Feeling sick :(

feeling-sick

I’m starting to feel sick. My throat is itchy and I’ve been sneezing all day. I’m really really hoping I’m not coming down with something, but I’m suspicious because there was a girl in one of my classes with an upper respiratory infection who came to class after being out for the last week or so. I feel really tired and sluggish =(
